What can you create with AI Storyboard Generator?
AI storyboard generator from a script
Paste a script, a logline or a rough beat sheet and get panels back with framing, angle and action described per shot. The value is not that the drawings are beautiful — they are not meant to be — but that you can see the sequence and find the beat that does not work before anyone has shot anything. That is the entire job of a board.
Keeping a character consistent across shots
Character consistency is the hard part of any board, AI or not. The reliable method is to fix the character in one image first, then use that frame as the reference for every subsequent panel rather than re-describing the character each time. Drift still creeps in over long sequences, so plan on regenerating the panels where the character has to be recognisable and accepting looser matches elsewhere.
Shot sizes, angles and camera moves
Describe shots the way a director would: wide establishing, medium two-shot, over-the-shoulder, insert, low angle, dutch. Those terms carry a lot of information compactly, and the model has seen enough of them to respond. Camera moves — push in, whip pan, crane down — should be written as intent for the panel note even though a still cannot show them, because they become the prompt when you animate the shot.
From board to animated clip
Once the board reads, individual panels can go straight into image-to-video as first frames. That is the practical reason to board with generated images rather than sketches: the artefact you used to plan the sequence is also the input to producing it. Fourteen of the sixteen video models accept a first frame, so most of the catalogue is available at that step.
Storyboards for pitches and client decks
Boards get used for pitches, client sign-off and internal alignment, and paid plans include full commercial rights for all of that. The realistic framing to give a client is that these are intent, not final look — the board settles the sequence, the shot list and the coverage, and the finished piece will be produced separately with those decisions already made.
What usually goes wrong, and how to avoid it
Boards fail when the character changes between panels and when every shot is the same size. The first is a reference problem — fix the character in one frame and reference it. The second is a directing problem the model cannot solve for you: if you do not specify shot sizes, you will get a sequence of pleasant mediums that carries no rhythm. Vary wide, medium and close deliberately.
Which shots are worth boarding
Resist boarding every shot. The panels that earn their place are the ones where coverage is not obvious: a reveal, a match cut, a moment where the geography has to be clear before the action starts. Boarding the routine shots eats your time and tells the room nothing they had not already assumed. A tight board of twelve considered panels reads better than forty automatic ones.
